Information Submitted Directly
A name, telephone number, or address entered in a search form is passed to the outside provider that operates that result service. Our own systems do not retain a copy of those searches. A message sent to us contains the information supplied in that message and is used to respond.
Routine Technical Information
Hosting may create ordinary logs such as an IP address, browser type, page request, and time of access. We review aggregate patterns to maintain the service and understand page use. Cookies or related tools may support basic analytics and, where applicable, advertising measurement.
What We Do With This Data
We use this information to operate and repair the reference, measure traffic, and improve its pages. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual visitor profiles.
Links to Other Websites
We link out to county and state records portals, library collections, archives, and third-party search tools. Their privacy policies, not ours, govern what you submit there. That is especially true of the sponsored search results, which a third-party company provides.
Who Might See Your Data
The service providers that host and support the site process server logs for us. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above. We disclose data when a valid legal process requires it, and not otherwise.
How We Protect Your Data
The site runs over an encrypted connection and logs are kept only as long as the purposes above need them. There are no accounts here, so no password or profile of yours exists on this site to be exposed.
Users Under 18
The site is meant for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18; if you believe a minor has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your Information Choices
Rights to access, correct, or delete site-held data can depend on the applicable law and where a visitor lives. The Syracuse research did not identify an enacted New York comprehensive consumer-privacy statute with one universal opt-out, so requests are assessed by the system and record at issue. Because we keep little, a request usually means checking the contact mailbox and available logs, then removing applicable information. Use the Contact page. Official New York, county, and city records are controlled by their custodians, not by this reference.
Updates to This Policy
Updates will appear on this page. Continued use after an update indicates acceptance of the revised policy.
